There are seven characteristics that makes up a living organism:
Organization
Characteristic pattern of organization with a discrete boundary separating it from its environment. It maintains physical integrity and assists in homeostasis (keeping a stable internal environment)
Responsiveness to environment
Response to external stimuli
Growth
Changes in form and function
Reproduction
Creating subsequent generations of similar organisms
Movement
Internal or external
Metabolism and Excretion
Metabolism chemical operations underway within the body, some absorbed from the external environment = Nutrients, oxygen
Respiration is the absorption, transport, and use of oxygen by cells
Excretion removal of generated unneeded or potential harmful waste products that must be removed from body fluids
All LIVING ORGANISMS Share Seven Characteristics
